Sherman Barrett was born 1964 in Washington DC. His family's Black American Indian heritage originates in the southern area of Virginia and the northern areas of North Carolina. When Sherman reached the age of nine, he and his family moved to the Maryland suburbs where he attended public schools. Upon graduationg from Largo High School , he attended Montgomery College in Rockville, Maryland. After realizing that college was not for him at that time, he worked for the US Postal Service where he learned the art of philandering.
Sherman took a break from the Postal Service and joined the US Navy. The Author says that he will always regret joining the Navy, because he thought that the US Navy had given up its racial and segregated practices after World War lll. The author states, "The only thing that I can thank the US Navy for is my college degree and how to handle racism."
After separating from the US Navy, he decided to settle down and get married. After several years of what he called a horrific experience, the Author realized he was fighting a losing battle and ended his marriage.
Today, Sherman Barret is single and lives alone in the Washington, D.C. area. Sherman's future plans are to take on a leadership role in the Black American community, remarry, have children, and sail around the world to continue his explorations of human nature.
